Style obsession: Big-ass cowls

Okay, so cowls. I know that (a) they’re probably a bit over-rated and (b) I’m way late jumping on this train, but damn. They’re like fatty knitted necklaces that keep your neck parts warm, make your head look kinda small, and don’t require extra energy expenditure through wrapping. How can you not love this??

If you’re not convinced, just look at these. Just look! Bad. Ass.

Photos link to item listings. These are all from Etsy (duh).

For me, the bigger the better. I like them in ridiculous sizes that make you look like you’re in a Tim Burton movie, all out of proportion. What about you?

  1. Haha. Ha.

They just get bigger and bigger. Some of those people could live in their cowls! Whilst staying warm in the winter.

    • So true. “Umm, is there a person in there?” The best (for warmth, undoubtedly, but for style, ehhh) are the ones that come up over the head like a crazy free-standing hood… which of course reminds me of the time I detached the hood from my puffy coat and wore it out in public. Are we still that awesome?

  2. Um, Ms. Sparrownest, I’m loving your blog. Bravo for face-eating cowls and Spaten Oktoberfest.

  3. Thank you for including my Cowl. I would love to be able to live in this cowl and not have to pay rent. But clearly I am obsessed with them ;-)

BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this blog.

    • Haha, yes! I think it’s the coziness factor. Plus, I’m super lazy, so… if I can just throw something over my head and be out the door, I’m all over it.

Loving your blog, too. Bookmarking it! Congrats on the Storque yesterday. I saw that lime/navy piece and was like “hey, I recognize that…”

  4. Thanks. I need to do more to the blog but just so busy. I do link back to blogs that mentions me but I need to do more… like just every day fashion and real life but for now its all T&P. And I REALLY want to switch over to WordPress. I like the cleaner look of it.
